Jacksonville’s Mike Halloran (Posthumously) Awarded
NAIFA-Florida’s Top Honor — the 2020 Snead-Bryan Outstanding Service Award
Mike Halloran, CFP®, ChFC, CLU, RICP, AEP, has posthumously been awarded NAIFA-Florida’s top award for 2020 – the C.G. Snead / J.F. Bryan, III Memorial Award for Outstanding Service.
In a private ceremony held earlier this month in Jacksonville, Steve Saladino, LUTCF, last year’s winner and 2020 chair of the Snead-Bryan Award selection committee, as well as several committee members presented the award to Sue Halloran, Mike’s widow. Mike passed away unexpectedly last October while out on a morning run.
Having joined NAIFA in 1970, Mike was an integral part of NAIFA-Northeast Florida and at various times served as President, Board member, and advisor to the local chapter. He was also a past member of the NAIFA-Florida Board of Directors and was an annual contributor to NAIFA’s IFAPAC.
In September 2019, shortly before his death, Mike celebrated 50 years with Northwestern Mutual where he spent the first half of his tenure there selling life insurance, before transitioning into the role of Wealth Management Advisor, which he enjoyed even more.
In addition, Mike was the President of the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils in 2010, past National Director of the Society of Financial Services Professionals, past President of the Estate Planning Council of Northeast Florida, was the Executive Director of Physicians Nationwide, a Member of the Estate Strategies Group, and other community organization boards.
“The selection committee is very pleased to present this award to Sue Halloran, on Mike’s behalf. It’s an honor and a privilege to recognize the giants in our industry, and Mike certainly fit the bill,” said Saladino.
Mike had a real passion for running and he kept meticulous records of his runs throughout the years. He started his running streak in April 1981, and then proceeded to run at least a mile, but usually three or more, every single consecutive day until his death. since then – 38 ½ years; 14,076 days!
NAIFA-Florida’s Snead-Bryan Award has been presented a top advisor in Florida each year since 1958. NAIFA-Northeast Florida (Jacksonville) has presented the local version of the award since 1957 and Mike was the 2004 recipient.
The public presentation of the 2020 Snead-Bryan Award will be the highlight of the 2020 NAIFA-Florida Annual Awards Ceremony – Thursday, Nov. 5 at 4:30 p.m. ET – on the Zoom teleconference platform.
