James “Jim” Charles Koburger

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of, NAIFA-Florida Past President, Jim Koburger, CLU, ChFC, CASL, LUTCF on July 3, 2024.
Jim was a property-casualty and life & health agent with Farm Bureau Insurance in Tallahassee, Florida for 42 years. During his career, Koburger qualified for several company roundtables and was a multi-time qualifier of NAIFA’s Quality Award for outstanding insurance production.
Koburger joined NAIFA in 1986 and was elected President of NAIFA-Tallahassee in 1999. From 2000 to 2001, he served as state Multi-line Chair and was then elected to the NAIFA-Florida Board as Regional Vice President from 2002 to 2006. In 2008, Koburger was again elected to the NAIFA-Florida Board and served until 2011 when he was then elected Senior Vice President beginning his move up the NAIFA-Florida chairs. In 2012-13, Koburger served as Incoming President and then moved up to President of NAIFA-Florida in 2013-14. He was installed as President at the 2013 NAIFA-Florida Conference, held at the J.W. Marriott Resort in Orlando.
Koburger was also a member of the association’s Insurance and Financial Advisors Political Action Committee (IFAPAC), contributing at the Emissary level. In addition, he was a graduate of NAIFA’s Leadership in Life Institute (LILI) – the association’s elite leadership training program, available only to members.
Born in Hicksville, NY, Koburger graduated from Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in 1980, majoring in political science. He was elected Student Body President his senior year.
Jim is survived by his wife Laurie and their four grown children: Sheila, Melanie, Alex, and Jessica.
