C.G. Snead / J.F. Bryan, III Memorial Award for Outstanding Service “Advisor of the Year”
In 1957, shortly after the death of Mr. C.G. Snead, co-founder of The Independent Life and Accident Insurance Company of Jacksonville, Florida., the officers and directors agreed that it would be fitting for the Company each year to present to that individual in Jacksonville, and also the State at large, a suitable plaque and silver tray, each to be appropriately inscribed, for the outstanding service that individual rendered to the public at large and at the same time gave due credit to the insurance industry.
Due to the stature of the award, the Board of Directors in December 1955, agreed to co-name the award in honor of Mr. J.F. Bryan, III. As Chairman of the Board of Directors and President, he led Independent Life through a period of unprecedented growth. During these years, Mr. Bryan gave unselfishly to the Association and contributed greatly to its growth as well.
As a result of the Company’s sale to American General Corporation the Board of Directors of Independent Life voted to establish an endowment so that this award would continue as the premier Association award. The award is presented annually by The Independent Life and Accident Insurance Company through the Jacksonville Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors-Florida.
